Dancers more than any other objects offer a photographer a fascinating insight into the miracle of the human body, its anatomy, its flexibility, its vulnerability, its graciousness. And yet, where else to look for an expression of a human spirit manifested in a gesture or in a movement of the body than among dancers? Taking pictures of dancers gives me a great opportunity to express my perception of and feelings about the male or female body. My camera, in fact, has taught me to appreciate the beauty of a human body. I can never be grateful enough to my friends among dancers (here incredibly talented students from Julliard School of Music in New York) who trust my eye and artistic vision and put themselves in front of the lens of my camera. I feel very lucky that I can court this beauty on the daily basis, and happy that I can share it with others. |
